DIDIER DROGBA - MOURINHO WILL GET THINGS RIGHT AT MANCHESTER UNITED IF GIVEN TIME.

Didier Drogba insists Jose Mourinho is no ‘has-been’ and will get things right at Manchester United if given time.

The Ivorian striker is a close ally of the Portuguese tactician, having spent many years working alongside him at Chelsea.

Mourinho brought Drogba to England and helped to transform him into a global superstar, with countless major honours shared between the two.

United are yet to see the spark which burned so brightly at Stamford Bridge, despite collecting a first trophy of the season in the form of the Community Shield.

Things have not gone entirely to plan since then, with inconsistency blighting the game of an expensively-assembled squad.

Mourinho did spend big over the summer, but only brought in four players.

The Red Devils ranks cannot be considered to have been shaped in his image, with there further tweaking required before that becomes the case.

That is a view shared by Drogba, who remains convinced that better days lie ahead for United as they adjust to a third managerial regime since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

He told RTL : “He’s not a has-been.

“I think that it’s a very big challenge for him. I think he has to take some time to build a team.”
