D. BUHARI IS DEAD

The baby, whose manhood was chopped off by his step mother in Niger State, Dauda Buhari, is dead.

The Director General of Child’s Right Agency, Mariam Kolo, disclosed that Buhari died in Wada village in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state, after a brief malaria illness.

Speaking with Punch, on Wednesday, Kolo said Buhari had “slight malaria which made his temperature to rise and he died even after he had been administered his prescribed drugs.”

Kolo revealed that Buhari died at a time he was scheduled to undergo a genital transplant in the United Kingdom, UK.

The DG said the sickness was not a relapse on his health, as he was doing extremely well after a series of corrective surgeries.

Expressing sadness over the death of the baby who is now over a year old, Kolo said the case of the stepmother who is currently being remanded in the Old Minna Prison would be determined.

Recall that Buhari’s step mother, Bara’atu Rabiu, had on June 18, 2016, chopped off the toddler’s penis while he was just two-month old.

Rabiu, then 17-years-old, never gave any reason for her action.

UDOMOCRACY - A SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT OF LAGOS RETURNEES.

Udomocracy- a system of government of Lagos returnees, by the Lagos returnees, and for the Lagos returnees.

Udomism- a political school of thought that believes in the running of government on false ideology, and incompetence by a gang of Lagos returnees who have turn Akwa Ibom state to a refugee camp for Lagos political refugees!

Udomitizer- any substance that is capable of causing incompetence when taken, or acquainted to!

It is sad that our darling Akwa Ibom state, has become a refugee camp for Lagos returnees. It all started when our amiable Obong Victor Bassey Adiaha Attah, brrought back the once Leviathan, Obong Godswill Obot Akpabio, from Lagos, and made him a Commissioner in his two terms stay in office! He once said that Akpabio would succeed in him as the governor come 2007, during a political outing in Ikot Ekpene, before he reneged due to his son-in-law's selfishness, that later transmogrified to a sacarsm to Obong Attah! Fortunately, even as he reneged, his prophesy came to pass in 2007; which led to the incessant killings, and kidnapping witnessed during the reign of a typical Leviathan in person of Godswill Akpabio. Political opponents were chased out of their homes, killed, kidnapped, including their children and wives. The atrocities even went as far as the kidnap and rape of the wife of Rtd Group Cpt. Sam Ewang , former military governor of Rivers State. The incident was sad; it shocked the people of the state, that a political fight could take such dimension, but it was true; we suffered insecurity amidst huge security votes from the federal purse, for eight years, and our most cherished son, ex-President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, didn't voice out, he kept mute, and allowed the beast in a human clothing, killed opposition, and destroy human lives, and then expected us to vote for him in 2015, save the hoax that was done and called votes, in private residences! Anyway, that's that!
As if that wasn't enough, Akpabio, remembering his fellow compatriot in Lagos, went to bring a clueless, visionless, incompetent, semi-imbecile Udom, into the system. A banker that was doing well in his profession, I must say, but not a political imbecile, who lacks the intellectual sophistication to manage a political office of such magnitude. He was imposed on us, and we were chased with military personnels, paid with tax-payers' money from the state! It was an unfortunate situation, but we had no strength and the arsenal and artillery to deploy and fight for our collective rights as a people! Upon becoming the governor, Udom suddenly remembered, just as Akpabio remembered him, his fellow compatriots in Lagos, and brought them to 'serve' in his cabinet as Commissioners and S.As. And this strikes me, and I dare to ask: is this another way of bringing back another Lagos political refugees into the system for integration ahead of future elections? We must rise to challenge this madness; Akwa Ibom state is not a refugee camp for Lagos returnees, who lacks clear-cut definition of what governance is. 2019 is fast approaching, we in Akwa Ibom must shine our eyes, not only people from Lagos are wise, we wise too! It is not enough to complain and criticize, get involved; register for your voters' card in the ongoing voters' registration by INEC, our voters' card, are our weapons, come 2019!

WHY JERRY AKPAN REJECTED EARCOM APPOINTMENT FROM GOV. UDOM EMMANUEL

WHY JERRY AKPAN REJECTED EARCOM APPOINTMENT.
BY TOROBONG EKPO

BARR. JERRY AKPAN has admitted that he turned down EARCOM appointment since on the first day of June, 2017 (01/06/17), insisting that he is not hungry.

It will be recalled that Jerry Akpan was the only one who stood by and represented Udom Emmanuel at Asan Ibibio when the going was tough and rough.

During that event, I could recall when Akpan said, " eki iyad esit ke Udom asok ado ayin ibibio nko" meaning PLEASE DO NOT BE OFFENDED, UDOM IS ALSO AN IBIBIO CHILD.

As Udom Emmanuel prepares to meet Ibibio monarchs for the first time after two years, he should remember that, Jerry Akpan stood for him when he was ridiculed by the world.

He should be reminded that when appointees from Lagos who are now occupying juicy offices were allegedly ridiculing his ambition, Akpan against all odds took that as a religion.

He allegedly signed result of all the 14wards in Mkpat Enin LGA, just like Mrs. Unoma Akpabio lured women all over the state to vote for Udom Emmanuel.

Today, the only road leading to a school "owned" by Eka Esit mbom is at deplorable state as 40 percent of pupils have been transferred to another school...yet the Udom's led government is showing nonchalant attitude.

Yet, Arinze, the MD of Exxon Mobil has disclosed that the company contributes over 30 billion naira yearly to the state government invariably implying that over 60billion naira  have been given to Udom Emmanuel within his 2years in office.

Plus, Paris refund, 45 billion naira borrowed for industrialization, Federal allocation, Internally Generated Revenue to mention but a few

Yet, flood within Uyo metropolis is alarming.

I now see why Jerry Akpan rejected the offer.

The government needs Ethical and attitudinal change on the management of resources more than the masses.

If Udom Emmanuel close ally could reject an appointment given to him and allegedly plan defecting to another political party.

Then, who are you? Think about this.

Happy Sunday.

FG RELEASES N420.2 MILLION TO NOLLYWOOD

The Federal Government says it has released the sum of N420.2 million to the Nigeria film industry (Nollywood) to improve and support aspiring practitioners.

According to a statement issued by the Deputy Director of Information, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Patricia Deworitshe, on Friday in Abuja, the money, which is the second tranche payment will benefit 105 film distributors.

The Federal Government had earlier introduced the “Project Act Nollywood’’, with three primary components aimed at developing the movie making value chain.

The components are the Film Production Fund (FPF), Capacity Building Fund (CBF) and Innovative Distribution Fund (IDF).

The FPF and CBF have been fully implemented, while the IDF, which is the third component of the project, is on-going.

The IDF covers online, National, Regional and community categories of Nollywood Film distribution and exhibition.

The objectives of IDF is to improve the distribution network of Nigerian Audio-Visual contents, cut down on piracy, create jobs, and protect Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) within the Nigerian Entertainment Industry.

N1.8 billion was approved for disbursement to 106 beneficiaries in this component, and N1.335 billion was disbursed earlier in the year as the first tranche to 105 beneficiaries.

Deworitshe said that before the release of the second tranche, the finance ministry had earlier carried out a successful monitoring and evaluation of the first tranche disbursement.

“Fifteen community cinemas and viewing centres have been established through the grant and this has improved the distribution network of movies in Nigeria.

“The programme has supported 18 firms in strengthening online distribution platforms, this has helped curb illegal downloads and piracy.

“Two hundred and fifty-six permanent jobs and 544 temporary jobs have been created through the financial support provided to 105 beneficiaries by the programme,’’ she said.

Deworitshe said the programme had also aided the extension of the Nollywood Industry to sub-Sahara Africa through the funding of National distributors to expand their distribution capacity and network.

She said through the programme, distributors had expanded their capacity to lip-synching their content in French for onward distribution to the ECOWAS sub-region.

The Nigerian Airforce says it has acquired two Mi-35M attack helicopter from Russia to fight terrorists and criminal gangs.

The Mi-35M is a rugged helicopter that offers round the clock combat use of guided and unguided weapons in regular and challenging climate conditions which is equipped with the latest navigation suite, target sights system, laser range finder and location finder.

“The aircraft have already been delivered awaiting official induction after which they will be launched for operations,” the Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar, said at a media briefing in Abuja on Friday.

He said the Air Force has also installed camera on a Beechcraft aircraft NAF 202 and NAF 204, and upgraded the camera on NAF 201 all in 2016.

“Furthermore, 3x EC-135 helicopters were handed over to the NAF by NNPC in March 2016. In collaboration with Aero-contractors Nigeria Ltd, 2 of the helicopters were reactivated.

“These included NAF 547 and NAF 548. Efforts are also on-going to carry out PDM/reactivation of 2x Mi-35P helicopters NAF 530 and NAF 531,” he said.

The Air force has also recently inducted four new Super Mushshak Trainer Aircraft, which were acquired from Pakistan.

Trainings
The Air Force also said it spent over N25 billion to train pilots in 2016. The pilots were trained both locally and outside Nigeria.
The Chief of Operations of the Force, Isiaka Amao, an Air Vice Marshal, who made the main presentation said the training activities of the Airforce in 2016 placed more emphasis on “pilots, engineers, technician and regiment personnel”.

“The NAF in 2016 trained 869 of its personnel overseas including 101 pilots and 357 engineers and technicians, while 4,868 were trained locally including 131 pilots and 643 engineers and technicians,” he said.

Throwing more light later, the Chief of Training and Operations, Ahmed Iya, also an Air Vice Marshal, said the Airforce spends “between $600,000 to $700,000 to train Pilots overseas while about $60,000 to $70,000 is spent to train Pilots locally”.
At official rate of N305 to the dollar, the force spent some N25. 7 billion on the pilot trainings.

The Air Chief said 14 Pilots recently graduated and joined the pool of fighter pilots within the service adding “presently more Pilots are training in Ilorin, Jordan and with the Egyptian Airforce”.

The Air force Chief also said “a total of 6,000 hrs was flown by NAF platforms translating to Jet A-1 fuel consumption of 10,525,945 liters”. He said despite this extensive employment of air power, “the casualty figures of own troops were minimal due to the professionalism displayed by NAF pilots”.
He however, failed to give the exact figure of the total casualty.

New Command
Mr. Abubakar, Air Marshal, said due to the additional responsibilities that the Air Force is facing as it supports other forces in the various operations within the country, a new command was established in Bauchi state.

He said the Fifth Command has already taken off while nine units under the Command were equally established.
He said the Service had to intervene in providing infrastructure at the newly established units.

“Some of these units are HQ SOC Bauchi, Forward Operation Base (FOB), Katsina, Quick Response Wing Daura, 201 Composite Group, Bauchi, and Quick Response Groups, Owerri and Gusau.

“Contracts for construction of Group HQ building, officers and joint airmen Mess, residential accommodation for officers and airmen as well as provision of water and electricity have been awarded for development of FOB Katsina and QR Wing Daura,” he said.

He added that the development of 201 Composite Group is at advanced completion stage with nearly all the residential accommodation blocks, apron, fire bay parade ground and other facilities as well as provision of electricity, water and access road in place.

“Additionally, a 60-bedded reference hospital has been constructed and awaiting commissioning. Contracts for the extension of apron and construction of taxiways and access road to operational area have also been awarded,” he said.

On the recent accident of one of the Helicopters given to the service by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Chief of Training and Operations said the Service is unable to give update to the Nigerian public because investigation is ongoing.
The helicopter crashed in Makurdi Benue state with no casualty.

The Air Force Chief said the Cockpit Voice recorder has been returned to the manufacturer to help the service extract the relevant data for analysis.
